2012 Workshops - All workshops begin at 10 AM and go to 3:30 PM. You may arrive at 9:30 AM to get set up.  We start clean up at 3:30 PM and must be out of the room at 4 PM sharp. If you wish to eat lunch at the workshop, it can be ordered through the Library Cafe or you can leave for lunch.  We are not allowed to bring food from outside sources into the Library.  

 

All Workshops MUST be paid for when you sign up.  

Some workshops may require an additional kit fee and will be noted in the description.

Winding Curves Workshop: This workshop uses the Sew Inspired Design System™ Winding Curves Template, a fun “out of the box” template that creates a unique art quilt. The picture below shows the quilt that will be made in this workshop. Students will be taught Sara’s unique foolproof EZ curved piecing techniques so that even beginning quilters can sew perfect curved quilt blocks. Students will make the blocks for the Winding Curves quilt top and learning how to put them together to create a unique art quilt. Quilt design, and composition will be taught as well as tips and tricks for sewing curved pieced blocks. Sara will show the many different  layout options to create original designs. This is a 6 hour hands-on class and students will be provided templates to use in the workshop and for purchase after the class.

Create a Flower from Your Own Photo

In this workshop students will learn how to make their own pattern from a photo and create a fused detailed flower, a smaller project than the other classes.  You will work from your 11" X 17” photo or Lenore’s making a freezer paper pattern and then using Lenore’s simple fusing technique design your flower from your own fabrics.  She will show you how to choose your fabrics, add detail to your flower using your photo as a reference and fabric paint, and finish your art quilt with her simple binding technique.  By creating this small piece students will have a simple basic technique they will be able to use to create their own art quilt masterpieces like Lenore does.    $10 supplies fee required. Workshop with Barb Forrister - Dyeing to Create -  www.barbforrister.com

Exploring textile paints and inks. We will be painting, inking, stamping and stenciling on fabric. We will be creating our own fabrics and will also learn how to apply patterns to create simple designs that can stand alone or be incorporated into blocks for larger projects. Here, the possibilities are endless. This is a techniques class.  There will be an additional $35 fee for the dyes, paints, etc.  We will be dyeing 4-5 YARDS of fabric.
