Chisholm Trail Quilt Guild's 2008 Quilt Challenge

Rules for Participation

1. The challenge. Quilt should visually interpret a saying or quotation that is commonly regarded as words of wisdom or words of advice.

2. Title of Quilt. The saying or quotation you choose to interpret must be the title of the quilt, not to exceed 40 words.

3. Size. Must not be less than length plus width of 30 inches or more than 80 inches. Any shape is acceptable.

4. Other regarding the construction of the quilt. Quilt should contain 3 layers, front, batting, and back. Quilting must be visible. May be machine and/or hand quilted. An identification label must be located in the lower portion of the quilt back. The quilt must have a 3 to 4 inch hanging sleeve on the back.

5. Judging criteria. Overall visual impact, interpretation of the quotation or saying, and overall workmanship. The back of the quilt will not be judged.

6. Who can participate. One-person quilts only. One entry form per quilt. One or two quilts per person. Person must be a current member of the Chisholm Trail Quilt Guild.

7. Submitting an entry. Quilt, entry form, and entry fee of $2 must be given to a committee member by the end of the November 2008 Chisholm Trail Quilt Guild meeting. Late entries will not be accepted. This entry form can be obtained from the website, ctquiltguild.org. Committee consists of Queen Bee members: Dorene Cohen, Delona Demo, Janis Keene, Judy Kraus, Karen Krueger, Diane Sehorne, Sue Malicoat.

8. Display of quilts. Quilts will be displayed at the December 2008 guild meeting. Attending members will be able to vote for Viewers’ Choice. The committee will be looking into other exhibit opportunities.

9. Awards. To be presented at the December 2008 guild meeting, First, Second, Third Place and up to four Honorable Mentions and Viewers’ Choice. Awards may include ribbons and gift items.

10. Return and care of quilts. Return of quilts will occur at December meeting and/or some or all may be held for a later exhibit. By entering this challenge, the person understands that the CTQG and the display site/host will take reasonable precautions to protect the quilt and neither will be held responsible for acts of nature or acts beyond their control.
